Hi all, i just want some light on something that is bothering me. As you can see i have a corsa b lite 1.4i everything is still standard except yesterday i put a Powerflow freeflow with 4-2-1 branch on it, which cost me R3500 !!!!

All i wanna know now is, I took my car to Steves Auto Clinic for a dyno, where i got 65kw and 2371 N at 3245 RPM where they said something about its At the wheel results. Can someone with knowledge on these stuff please tell me did i get gains or not. When i open my bonnet it says the car has 65kw is that kw on Flywheel or what? And how much torque did i gain form that number?

What is your engine number?

65kw is not torque, its power. Nm is torque.

These are the standard power outputs of the various Corsa B 1.4i motors on Autodata:

C14NZ - 44kw @ 5200rpm
C14SE - 60kw @ 5800rpm
C14SEL - 63kw @ 6000rpm
X14SZ - 44kw @ 5400rpm
X14XE - 66kw @ 6000rpm

I doubt the kw stated under your bonnet is measured on the flywheel, as far as I know it's always measured at the wheels because, unless you're running your car on a set of flywheels, that's all that really counts for anything.

Was the 65kw @ 3245rpm your peak power? It should be at higher revs than that, and with more power too. Could be the branch gives you more low range power. I can promise you the car will pull nicely robot to robot.

65 kw at 5985 RPM and 2371 N at 3145 RPM

That means your peak power output is 65kw at 5985rpm, whilst your peak torque output is 2371nm at 3145rpm.

It's not bad compared to most other 1.4 cars. But you wont get massive improvements from just doing an exhaust, or just a K&N filter etc. If you dont really know much about this stuff you probably wont even notice a difference other than the sound.

Not sure why you spent R3500 on an exhaust for a 1.4 but ja, that's just my opinion. You dont get much power to fiddle with and it takes something special to get a decent gain thats worth the money.

Very little of improving your motor has to do with creating more power. Its mostly about knowing how to reshape the power thats already there.

I don't know... What motor does it have? As I said above, there are a few different 1.4i Corsa B motors. I'm not sure which one came out in SA. But you are looking at an improvement yes.

On the block, in front on the right hadn side behind the exhaust manifold. I think. I also dont know the specs of models after 2004, if your VIN plate says 65kw then the motor had 65kw to start with.

Well from what people said, is that the number of KW that is on the VIN is done ATF and not ATW or is that incorrect?

this is what they rate it here on this site.

Power Output 65kw@6200
Torque 112nm@2800

http://www.um.co.za/specifications/opel ... 1_4i_(2007).aspx

where i got 65 kw at 5985 RPM and 2371 N at 3145 RPM

i dont know how to read that torque readings they game me there for instance how much NM would myne be.

And from what i have read on some forums they say that the KW on you vin is without power steering and a bunch of stuff that is not connected that usually brings down you KW after it is connected, thats where the At the wheel dyno comes in that shows true KW. Plz correct me if i am wrong :popcorn2:

Would love to know from the other guys if i have an improvement or not and how much... just want to know exactly if its a 1%, 2% or wot wot .....

My gf has a Corsa B Lite 1.4i 2008 model, with a/c

Last dyno reading she got was 63.6Kw & 111Nm at G&C on 7 May 2011, flywheel power

Car has 50mm Evolution exhaust, no branch or filter or any other motor mods.

highest reading was 66Kw & 120 something Nm's at Dynotech last year, iirc

R3500 for branch & exhaust is way too pricey. You could have got it done for cheaper

ok 3.5k sounds about right considering he got an exhaust and branch probably with a tail piece

Well there you have it weeper. A definite improvement. If you now have your previous flywheel power at your wheels now that is not bad. I still think it's a waste of time though.

Before you took your car to poweflow try to remember where your torque band use to sit. Eg. Maybe you could feel the car pulling quite strong say from 1000rpm to 4000rmp. Now with the branch and xhorst you maybe feeling that your powerband has shifted to about 5000rmp. Just an example.

I paid R2800 for 4-2-1 branch & exhaust @ Evolution hence me saying you could have got it done cheaper. Tailpiece = +- R300

Anyways, it's not a waste of cash. Branch + Exhaust is a very nice upgrade / mod on a std 1400.
